The Power of Sowem Gospel Church International, also known as New Way Evangelism Ministry, Ake Branch, Abeokuta, Ogun State, has celebrated its anniversary with a call on Christians to embrace and sustain the joy of salvation through faithful service to God.
The anniversary celebration, held at the church's premises at No. 2, Oke Erunwon, Ake, Abeokuta, featured a sermon by the guest minister, Pastor Akinboro Samuel of Elshadai Deliverance Church, Abeokuta, who spoke on the theme, “Joy of Salvation.”
Preaching from Psalm 51:12, Pastor Akinboro said salvation was a precious gift from God that brought joy, spiritual renewal and deliverance from darkness.
He noted that there was great joy in serving God, adding that heaven rejoiced whenever a sinner repented and returned to God.
According to him, the joy of salvation is greater than material rewards because it represents redemption and a restored relationship with God.
He said, “Satan has only a limited offer for us, but our God has blessings in abundance.”
The cleric cited the biblical account of King David, noting that his sinful relationship with Bathsheba had brought serious consequences, and urged Christians to guard their relationship with God against actions that could undermine their spiritual lives.
Referencing Psalm 126:1-3, Pastor Akinboro encouraged members of the congregation to remain joyful and grateful for God's faithfulness.
He prayed that the joy of salvation would continue to abide in the lives of the worshippers beyond the anniversary celebration.
Explaining the significance of the theme, the guest minister identified four reasons the church had chosen the joy of salvation for its anniversary.
He described salvation as a great testimony of God's goodness, a free gift, a source of strength for the journey ahead and a transforming experience capable of changing a person's life completely.
Pastor Akinboro also expressed optimism about the future of the ministry, declaring that the church would experience a turnaround as it moved into 2027.
He encouraged the congregation to remain steadfast in faith, trusting God for greater spiritual growth and progress in the coming year.
In a related development, the church leadership expressed appreciation to the guest minister, invited dignitaries and other participants for their contributions to the success of the anniversary celebration.
In its appreciation address, the leadership thanked Pastor Akinboro for his powerful ministration, prayers and spiritual encouragement, describing his message as a blessing to the church.

It equally appreciated the Distinguished Guest of Honour and other guests for their presence and contributions, praying that God would bless them, protect their households, grant them good health and prosper their endeavours.
