By Olawale Olayinka, Abeokuta

The Ewekoro Local Government Administration has commissioned a number of landmark projects executed under the leadership of the Executive Chairman, Hon. Adesina Sikiru Adisa, as part of efforts to improve infrastructure and enhance the living standards of residents across the local government area.

The commissioning ceremony, held on Thursday, August 13, 2026, attracted government officials, traditional rulers, political and community leaders, religious leaders, security agencies, market leaders, members of the press and other stakeholders.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Adesina Sikiru Adisa described the occasion as a significant milestone in the administration’s commitment to sustainable grassroots development and improved service delivery.

The council chairman expressed appreciation to the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, for his continued support for grassroots development. He also acknowledged the contributions of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, under the leadership of Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat.

According to him, the commissioned projects cut across critical sectors, including education, healthcare, electricity, commerce, road infrastructure, water supply and public safety.

Among the projects commissioned were four VIP toilets equipped with solar-powered boreholes at Aga Olowo Primary School, as well as the grading of rural roads across all 10 wards of Ewekoro Local Government.

Others included the construction of a modern Marriage Registry at Obada-Oko and the installation of a 300KVA transformer at Oke-Oko, Itori, aimed at improving electricity supply to residents and businesses in the area.

The administration also reconstructed three classrooms, including an office and store, and provided desks and benches at the U.D.C. Primary School Annex, Arigbajo. The Owowo Health Centre and Staff Quarters were equally reconstructed to strengthen healthcare delivery in the community.

In the area of commerce and economic development, 15 lock-up shops were constructed at Wasinmi Market, providing additional spaces for traders and supporting local economic activities.
The council also installed 100 solar-powered streetlights across Abalabi, Asayobo, Mosan, Papalanto and Itori wards. In addition, 33KV high-tension lines were constructed and 300KVA transformers energised at Shogade, Afowowa Sogade and Eruku Town.

To improve healthcare services, basic hospital equipment was procured for Asapalolo Health Centre, while blackboards were renewed in 60 primary schools across the local government area.

Hon. Adesina said the projects were evidence that prudent and responsible management of public resources could translate into tangible development and improved quality of life for the people at the grassroots.

He commended the management team, members of the legislative council and the entire workforce of Ewekoro Local Government for their dedication, professionalism, teamwork and commitment to quality service delivery.

The chairman further urged residents and community leaders to take ownership of the projects by protecting and maintaining the facilities to ensure that they continue to serve both present and future generations.

Hon. Adesina reaffirmed the local government’s commitment to complementing the developmental agenda of the Ogun State Government through programmes and projects aimed at improving the welfare and socio-economic well-being of residents.
