President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to national development, as he joined dignitaries in Ogun State for the commissioning of key infrastructure projects aimed at accelerating economic growth and improving livelihoods.
The President described the occasion as a celebration of visionary leadership and a testament to sustained efforts toward building a resilient and prosperous nation.
Speaking at the event, President Tinubu commended the state government for its unwavering dedication to progress over the past seven years, noting that the newly commissioned economic hub represents a strategic investment in Nigeria’s future.
He congratulated the people of Ogun State for their continued support and reaffirmed confidence in the developmental strides being recorded under the leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress.
The President emphasized that ongoing infrastructural developments across the country are people-centered and reflect a broader vision of economic transformation.
While acknowledging the challenges associated with macroeconomic reforms, he maintained that such policies are already yielding positive results, laying a solid foundation for long-term prosperity and national stability.
Highlighting the significance of the projects, President Tinubu disclosed that several initiatives were also virtually commissioned, including the Gateway International Airport, which he described as a critical component of an integrated development framework encompassing energy, transportation, and logistics. He added that investments in mobility, security, and agriculture would enhance daily life and strengthen efforts to combat insecurity across the nation.
In his remarks, Governor Dapo Abiodun described the President’s visit as both historic and symbolic, underscoring the Federal Government’s confidence in subnational entities as key drivers of economic growth.
He noted that Ogun State’s alignment with the Renewed Hope Agenda has positioned it for economic recovery, improved fiscal discipline, and sustainable development.
Governor Abiodun highlighted the state’s remarkable economic growth, revealing that internally generated revenue has increased significantly over the years, alongside a substantial rise in gross domestic product.
He outlined major achievements, including the development of over 1,600 kilometres of roads, delivery of thousands of affordable housing units, expansion of healthcare infrastructure, and advancements in agriculture and power generation, all contributing to Ogun’s emergence as a leading investment destination.
Also speaking, Senate President Godswill Akpabio commended the synergy between the executive and legislative arms of government, noting that such collaboration has been instrumental in driving national development.
He reiterated the National Assembly’s commitment to sustaining the momentum through legislative support, while expressing optimism that ongoing reforms and decentralization efforts would further empower states to deliver dividends of democracy to the Nigerian people.
