The Chairman of Ijebu-Ode Local Government, Hon. Dare Alebiosu, has presented a proposed budget of N15.5 billion for the 2026 fiscal year, aimed at sustaining fiscal stability and delivering democratic dividends to residents.
Presenting the budget proposal, tagged “Budget of Sustainable Growth and Inclusive Development,” before the Legislative Council at the local government secretariat, Alebiosu explained that the proposal was designed to drive key developmental objectives in the council area.
According to him, priority areas in the budget include infrastructural development, education and youth empowerment, healthcare and social welfare, agriculture and economic growth, as well as environmental sustainability.
He noted that the proposed budget represents a 23.75 per cent increase over the 2025 budget, adding that it would be funded primarily through the council’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), supported by innovative and transparent revenue mechanisms.
Alebiosu emphasised that his administration remains committed to sustaining developmental projects aimed at improving the standard of living of residents.
Highlighting some of the achievements recorded since the inception of his administration, he listed the reconstruction of Oke-Aje Health Centre; renovation of Itamapako, Apebi and Sabo health centres; donation of medical equipment to health facilities; installation of solar-powered boreholes at the abattoir; and provision of a 300KVA transformer at Molipa.
Other projects include the renovation of Moslem Primary School in Sabo, the upgrade of the Chairman’s office with a solar inverter system, as well as drainage clearing and debris evacuation along Joke Taiwo Street.
Receiving the budget proposal, the Leader of the House, Hon. Clement Adenaike, commended the chairman for his developmental strides and assured that the Legislative Council would give the proposal accelerated consideration to ensure its speedy passage in the interest of the people.
Adenaike also pledged continued cordial relations between the legislative and executive arms of the local government to sustain and expand development projects within the council area.
