His Royal Majesty Oba Dr. Oluseyi Adediran, (Otileta 1), Towulade of Akinale has installed new traditional title holders in Akinale, charging them to uphold the values of integrity, unity, and service to the community.
The colourful ceremony, held at the Owu Palace , Oke Ago Owu on Saturday highlighted both cultural heritage and the responsibilities attached to leadership.
In his royal address, Oba Adediran expressed gratitude for the gathering of illustrious personalities, noting that destiny and divine grace bind people together.
“I’m delighted because we are brought together. We don’t know where we are going and we thank God for where we are,” he said.
The monarch emphasized that the titles conferred remain rooted in royal lineage. He recalled that if not for political influences in history, the father of the newly installed Olori Omoba might have become the Olowu of Owu Kingdom. He stressed that title holders must be reliable, consistent, and capable.
Turning to national issues, the Towulade lamented the lack of strong support for the President, particularly in the areas of security and policy advice.
He noted that Nigeria has capable leaders whose expertise should be better utilized.
The newly installed Olori Omoba of Akinale, Otunba Adejare Adegbenro, expressed his commitment to developmental projects, announcing that he has already begun work on a borehole as his first project for the community.
He disclosed that he has facilitated over 48 boreholes across Ogun State and regularly sponsors free medical eye treatment outreaches.
Now elevated to the title of Asiwaju Jagunmo of Egbaland by the Alake of Egbaland HRM Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo.
Adegbenro pledged unwavering loyalty to the monarch and dedication to transformative leadership.
“This is my 20 years on the reign, and I’ll make sure that with my commitment, they will see a different Egba people. We’re going to make a change,” he said.
He added that public service comes naturally to him and expressed readiness to serve whenever called upon.
On youth development, he encouraged young Nigerians to embrace patriotism, unity, and cultural identity.
“We are not white, we are Black. We are Nigerians. I believe in the unity of Nigeria because of what our forefathers fought for,” he said.
Addressing insecurity, he urged government and agencies to focus on identifying and prosecuting sponsors of violence. According to him, “Anybody sponsoring anything against their country should be locked up and punished. The people killing are part of us, let us find out who they are.”
Also installed was Asiwaju ACP Adebayo Aina, the new Asiwaju Bobagunwa of Akinale. He expressed gratitude to the Owu Akinale kingdom for finding him worthy of the honour, pledging to continue the positive work already begun.
He said his focus would be on enhancing security, peace, reconciliation, capacity building, and human development.
Aina praised the efforts of the federal government in addressing insecurity, noting that the peaceful ceremony itself is proof of progress.
“If there was overwhelming insecurity and terrorism, we wouldn’t be seated here today,” he said.
Dr. Pastor Olajumoke Israel, a missionary and entrepreneur, also addressed the gathering, announcing an upcoming launch of electric tricycles and bikes in partnership with the federal government.
He highlighted the global shift towards clean energy and the need to reduce pollution.
