Ogun TESCOM dismisses social media allegations of financial inducement in posting Of Principal, VP in public school

The Ogun State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) has dismissed claims circulating in some quarters alleging irregularities, favoritism and financial inducements in the posting of Principals and Vice Principals across Public Secondary Schools in the State.

In a release signed by TESCOM Chairman, Apostle 'Biodun Sanyaolu, the claims were described as unfounded, misleading, and a deliberate attempt to discredit the integrity of the education system.

The release indicated that postings and redeployments of Principals and Vice Principals were based on merit, guided by verifiable records of service and available vacancies, in line with established Civil Service rules.

It emphasised that the Commission operates a well-documented database of schools, Principals, Vice Principals, teaching and non-teaching staff, which continues to serve as the basis for decisions on promotions, postings, and redeployments.

The statement further stressed that the Ogun State Government, under which TESCOM operates, has continued to prioritise transparency, accountability, and excellence in the education sector.

It reiterated the Commission’s zero-tolerance on corruption,  disclosing that it operates an open-door policy where genuine complaints are promptly investigated, while reminding the public of its whistleblower hotline: 081 - 4757 8497 (WhatsApp and SMS ONLY), a safe channel for reporting misconduct and irregularities.

It also debunked rumour that school administrators and teachers in the State retire without benefits, clarifying that all staff are beneficiaries of the nationally recognised Contributive Pensions Scheme.

According to the release, it is misleading to suggest that dedicated personnel will “go home with nothing” after years of meritorious service.

      

    It mentioned the OgunTEACh internship scheme and ongoing infrastructural projects in schools are evidence of present administration's sustained commitment to excellence, noting that continuous recruitment, training, promotions and welfare packages for staff were part of its unwavering efforts in achieving standard education.
