As part of his ongoing investment drive to China, Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has visited the fully automated Rizhao Sea Port in Shandong Province, China. The visit came shortly after his strategic meeting with the Mayor of Rizhao, Wang Xinsheng, where discussions centered on collaboration in deep sea port development, mineral exploration, and cultural exchange.
During the port tour, Governor Abiodun and his delegation observed firsthand the efficiency of operations at Rizhao, regarded as one of the busiest and most technologically advanced ports in Asia. He described the experience as “truly insightful,” noting that it underscored the transformative impact of modern technology and strategic planning in port management.
Governor Abiodun emphasized that Ogun State envisions replicating such a model through the Olokola Deep Sea Port project. He revealed that collaboration with the Shandong Port Group, owners of Rizhao Port, would facilitate the transfer of technical expertise necessary to achieve this goal. According to him, the Olokola Deep Sea Port, once realized, will not only serve as a benchmark for world-class maritime infrastructure in Nigeria but also open new frontiers for trade, investment, and industrial growth in Ogun State.
With this development, the state government continues to demonstrate its commitment to positioning Ogun as Nigeria’s gateway to prosperity and a hub for global investment.
