Liberian President's son receives royal welcome in Ilawo, Egbaland


In a historic visit, Tamba Boakai Jr, son of Liberian President Joseph Boakai, was lavishly received in Ilawo, a prominent town in Egba Land, renowned for its rich cultural heritage and ancient traditions.

The warm reception was a testament to the strong bonds between Liberia and Nigeria, and the significance of Ilawo as one of the pillars of Egba Land.

Upon arrival, Tamba Boakai Jr was greeted by HRM Oba Olusegun Alexander Macgregor, the traditional ruler of Ilawo, and his wife, Olori Omolara Macgregor, in a grand ceremony attended by hundreds of enthusiastic youths, traditional chiefs, and community leaders.

The delegation was treated to a vibrant display of Yoruba culture, including traditional music, dance, and attire.

In his address, Tamba Boakai Jr praised the hospitality of the Ilawo people and commended the town's efforts in preserving its cultural heritage.

He emphasized the importance of unity, education, and hard work, encouraging the youths to strive for excellence and become ambassadors of their rich cultural legacy.

The visit to Ilawo was followed by courtesy calls on the Paramount ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, and the Olowu of Owu Kingdom, where Tamba Boakai Jr was honored with traditional titles and blessings.

The Liberian delegation was impressed by the warm reception and the rich cultural heritage of the Yoruba people.

Ilawo, one of the oldest towns in Egba Land, has maintained its ancient traditions and customs, making it a significant cultural hub in the region.

The visit has strengthened the bond between Liberia and Nigeria, fostering greater cultural exchange and cooperation between the two nations.
