Four Dead, Four Injured In Sagamu-Ikorodu Highway Collision

Four people were reported dead on Sunday following a collision between two vehicles in the MRI area of the Ikorodu-Sagamu Expressway, four others sustained varying degrees of injury in the crash, which occurred around 12 pm.

 Florence Okpe, Chief Route Commander of the Ogun State Command, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), stated that eight individuals—seven adults and one child—were involved in the accident. She attributed the crash to wrongful overtaking by one of the vehicles, which led to a rear collision resulting in the fatalities.

Okpe said, “The crash involved a wine Toyota Sienna with registration number LND945EL and a white convoy bus with registration number AKD232XV. Eight people were involved: six male adults, one female adult, and one female child. Four people were killed: two male adults, one female adult, and one female child, while four male adults were injured. The suspected causes of the crash were speed and wrongful overtaking, leading to the rear collision of the two vehicles.”

The FRSC spokesperson empathized with the families of the deceased and cautioned motorists about speeding and the importance of obeying road signs. “The injured victims were taken to Dasochris Hospital in Gbaga, Ogijo, while the family took custody of the corpses.”

Anthony Uga, the Sector Commander of the Ogun Sector Command, expressed his condolences to the families of the crash victims. He advised motorists to avoid speeding and to pay full attention to driving, emphasizing the importance of knowing when to overtake safely and adhering to road​.
