According Mr Femi Mabayoje who was carb driver said, shortly after President Bola Tinubu announced the cancellation of the petrol subsidy, queues for the product resurfaced in parts of the state, such as Ilaro, Ifo, Sagamu, Ijebu Igbo, Ijebu Ode and Abeokuta the state capital.
It was observed that some filling stations visited in Abeokuta were closed while others that dispensed petrol had large queues of cars and people, lining up to fill their tanks and kegs.
Similarly, Ajoke Filling station at Car wash Adatan and Kemta along Ogtv road are selling only in the evening at 450 per liters.

While Faaji filling station Oke-Ijeun and Slaab Ijaiye a larger crowd was seen, with the queues already spreading to the road and they are selling at 350 per liters
A resident who preferred anonymity told Journalists that most filling stations decided to stop selling when they were informed of Tinubu’s speech on petrol subsidy removal.
He said “Some of the petrol stations only heard about the subsidy removal and just stopped selling,” the resident said.

Commercial transporters have also hiked their trip fares across the state in response to the developments.
While some of the petrol station operators shut down their filling stations, thus leading to the emergence of long queues.
