ARMY RECRUITMENT: OGSG RESTATES COMMITMENT TO EXERCISE

By Our Correspondent

Ogun State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to partner with the Nigerian Army to sensitise, encourage and support its citizens to join the ongoing  84 Regular recruit intake.

Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Cabinet and Special Duties, Alhaji Olanrewaju Saka, stated this while receiving the Director, Nigeria Army Recruitment, Resettlement and Reserve, Brigadier General Mohammed Garba in Abeokuta.

Alhaji Saka said the present administration had been supporting indigenes of the State with free transportation, light refreshments and cash throughout their stay during the training, to ensure a smooth and successful recruitment exercise.

The Permanent Secretary pointed out that the State had witnessed a large influx of local and foreign investors attracted by the relative peace enjoyed in the State, as a result of the backing given to security agents by the government, which had turned the State into an industrial hub of the country.

He called on able-bodied youths who were mentally and physically fit to seize the opportunity of the ongoing exercise and enlist in the Army, as the State government would continue to support interested qualified indigenes to get recruited into the Nigerian Army.

Earlier in his remark, Brigadier General Garba, said there was a need for consultation and proper enlightenment of the public on the ongoing exercise into the 84 Regular Recruit intake which had commenced on October 10  and would end by November 15, saying the recruitment is free of charge.

Garba listed the benefits of getting recruited in the Nigerian Army to include, getting an enhanced salary scheme, improved medical care, affordable homeowner opportunity and many more, noting that the recruitment would reflect Federal Character, as each State would be adequately represented.
