Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has described the Awujale and Paramount ruler of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona, as an epitome of knowledge whose vast experience has helped in remodeling traditional institution in the State and the nation at large.

Prince Abiodun stated this in Ijebu-Ode at the 88th birthday celebration of the Monarch, whom he acknowledged as a forthright man who always speaks and stands by the truth.

The Governor noted that the Monarch had become an institution by redefining kingship and leadership in traditional council, which had made him a reference point across the country.

He appreciated Oba Adetona for his huge investment in the education sector, saying his contributions to the development of Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), especially the establishment of the Centre for Leadership and Governance, were commendable.

"Kabiyesi, you are known for quality and passion for good governance. You established a stool at the Olabisi Onabanjo University and ensured that the right teaching staff is employed. We remain grateful for what you have done for the State and the Ijebuland. You will live long to continue to mentor us ", he said.

Abiodun while praying to God to bless the Awujale and grant him more years on earth, appreciated him for his support towards his administration since its inception, promising that he would continue to prioritise and make life meaningful for the people.

Responding, Oba Adetona expressed gratitude to the Governor for his steadfastness and commitment to the enthronement of good governance in the State.

The birthday celebration was attended by dignitaries including the Wife of the Governor, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun, Deputy Governor Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, members of the State executive, and traditional rulers across Ijebuland led by the Dagburewe of Idowa, Oba Yinusa Adekoya, among others.
