The National Convention of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to elect its presidential flagbearer in the 2023 election will hold in Abuja from June 6 to 8, 2022.
On the forefront of the presidential aspirants vying for the post is a forward looking and de-tribalised Nigerian, Senator Ibikunle Amosun. He has worked tirelessly in the past few weeks to make consultations within and outside the APC and across the country to ensure that his emergence as the candidate does not fail. For the success of the consultations so far, glory be to God and his campaign team, ably led by Hajia Bala Abubakar.
On Monday, 30th May 2022, Senator Amosun was successfully screened by the Presidential Screening Panel. Photos of the tested and respected Senator walking briskly and confidently into the screening venue has been used widely in the media and they speak volumes.
We are now in the last lap of the consultation as we approach the decision day on 7th June.
Though the Senator currently representing the Ogun Central Senatorial District in the Red Chamber and the two-term former Governor of Ogun State is being touted to emerge as APC's consensus candidate, he's not leaving everything to chance. He continues to burn the midnight oil and expand the circle of friends and associates.
In the latest appeal to the over 12,000 delegates that will vote at the convention, Senator Amosun's team said:
"A second opportunity to consolidate Nigeria's future will not present itself beyond the solemn responsibility that has been bestowed on you this weekend at Eagle Square in Abuja. Only one man from amongst the field has the experience, know-how and temperament to cause that consolidation to happen. Senator Ibikunle Amosun is the man with the kind of courage and character for such a time as now."
Senator Amosun is our son in Ogun State, the son of Nigeria who is imbibed with the right values and the lion heart to tackle the challenges that our nation currently faces.
