A young woman has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command over the alleged theft of a client's cash and mobile phone after they reportedly met at a hotel in the Lekki area of Lagos.
According to police sources, the incident occurred in the early hours of Monday when the suspect allegedly made away with the victim's smartphone and an undisclosed amount of money while he was asleep.
The victim was said to have raised the alarm after waking up to discover that both the woman and his valuables were missing. Hotel management subsequently reviewed CCTV footage, which reportedly assisted investigators in identifying the suspect.
Police operatives later tracked the suspect to another location within Lagos, where she was arrested.
During interrogation, the suspect allegedly confessed to taking the items, claiming that financial hardship motivated her actions. Police also disclosed that some of the allegedly stolen property was recovered during the investigation.
The spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command confirmed the arrest, noting that investigations are ongoing and that the suspect will be charged in court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
The police further advised members of the public to exercise caution when meeting unfamiliar individuals and to take adequate measures to protect their personal belongings.
