By Olawale Kolawole, Abeokuta
Ogun west respected traditional ruler has advised political leaders in Ogun State and Ogun West in make efforts to unite all the old contenders and the new contender so that they can collectively win the next gubernatorial election come 2027.
Oba Ebenezer Akintunde Akinyemi Eselu of Iselu Kingdom in Yewa North Local Government Ogun State gave the advised in a press statement signed yesterday, Abeokuta.
The monarch explained that there's needs for the national leader President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, Governor Dapo Abiodun and other leaders in the State need to urgently wade in and unite all the contestants and advise politicians with parochial interest to stop castigating Hon. Isiaka and other old contestants. Definitely, the new bride will need their support too before and during the upcoming 2027 elections.
He said politicians in Ogun West and Ogun State in general should, please, stop mocking and embarrassing Hon. Gboyega Nasir ISIAKA as a serial contestant and loser. Other great political titans who have been making attempts in the past to lead our dear Ogun State should also be praised for their doggedness. It is true that there is a new bride in the politics of Ogun West and Ogun State in general in the person of Distinguished Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi) whose popularity and record of achievements are humongous, but let us also praise those who have been in the trenches as well.
"Hon. Gboyega Nasir Isiaka (GNI) needs to be celebrated because in 2019, he showed a lot of respect to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu who was the National Leader of the APC at the time. Former Governor Ibikunle Amosun wanted Hon. Nasir Isiaka to collapse his political structure for his candidate, i.e Hon. Abiodun Akinlade. Instead of teaming up with the APM candidate, Hon. Nasir Isiaka chose to listen to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and did not step down for Hon. Abiodun Akinlade. This singular act should make the APC to continue to appreciate Hon. Gboyega Nasir ISIAKA whose action at the time prevented APM from winning the election".
Presently at the Federal House of Representatives, he focuses on education, healthcare, agriculture, and border development. Also, his consistent performances in some committees on Polytechnics and Higher Technical Education, Student Loans, and National Planning and Economic Development at the Federal House of Representatives are notably visible and sterling.
Listed below are some other visible achievements of Hon. Gboyega Nasir ISIAKA:
1. Facilitation of federal employment for nineteen (19) constituents and scholarships for indigent students.
2. Sponsoring of bills for a Federal Institute of Technical and Vocational Education in Imeko and a Federal College of Education (Technical) in Eggua.
3. Empowerment of over one thousand six hundred (1,600) youths and women through vocational training and entrepreneurship programs.
4. Construction of roads, police stations, classrooms, and healthcare facilities in his constituency.
"It is germane to state that Hon. Gboyega Nasir ISIAKA has declared his intention to run for Ogun State Governor in 2027, citing his experience and commitment to serving the people. This declaration has led to several attacks on him. He has been named a serial contestant who has always failed to win elections into the position of Ogun State Governor since the year 2011. The attacks are needless because he is not the only politician who has lost elections. Former President Muhammadu Buhari of blessed memory ran to become Nigeria's President three times before making it the fourth time. Also, Abraham Lincoln failed several times before winning the election to become the 16th President of the United States of America".
Hon. Isiaka's past failures in gubernatorial elections in Ogun State are not good parameters to judge his political mastery and sagacity. Our experience in the gubernatorial election of 2019 is still very fresh in many people's minds. Listed below were the 2019 results of the Ogun State Gubernatorial election:
1. Prince Dapo Abiodun (APC) - 241,670
2. Hon. Abiodun Akinlade (APM) - 222,153
3. Hon. Nasir Isiaka (ADC) - 110,442.
From these results, it is crystal clear that if Hon. Gboyega Nasir ISIAKA had teamed up with Hon. Abiodun Akinlade at the time, it would have become difficult for the incumbent Governor Dapo Abiodun to win the election at the time.
"Adding that Ogun West and Ogun State in general should rather make efforts to unite all the old contenders and the new contender so that they can collectively win the next gubernatorial election because we all need ourself.
