TESCOM shows support for establishment of crime prevention corps in schools

The Ogun State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM)   has signified its readiness to facilitate necessary backing for the establishment of National School Crime Prevention Corps (NSCPC) towards ensuring a safer teaching and learning environment in schools.

The Commission Chairman, Apostle 'Biodun Sanyaolu, disclosed this while playing host to the executive of the Corps, led by its Commandant, Folayinka Ige, in his Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, said security of lives and property in the school system was crucial to achieving academic excellence, stating that school environment should be safe, conducive for academic activities and extracurricular activities devoid of crime and criminalities.

 Apostle Sanyaolu pointed out that the State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, as well as its allied agencies would continue to strengthen security architecture in all schools at all levels, to forestall breakdown of law and order.

He commended the efforts of the Corps in the prevention of crime in schools across the State, urging its executive to come up with a proposal that would guide TESCOM in making formal recommendations to the appropriate authorities.

"As an ambassador of the Corps in the State, I can attest to your commitment and visible impact in preventing crime in our schools across the State. The Commission is highly interested in your mission for the benefit of learners, school authorises, parents and other stakeholders,’’ he assured.

Earlier, Commandant of the Corps, Mr. Ige, lauded the proactive initiatives of the TESCOM Board since its inception, explained that the purpose of the visit was to formally introduce the Corps’ activities to the Commission and to seek its support for legislative backing at the Ogun State House of Assembly.

The visit had in attendance the Commission's Board members and Directors.
