Government has appealed to motorists and residents plying the Abeokuta–Sango Ota Road to remain calm and exercise patience as construction work progresses along the cb
orridor.
The State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ade Akinsanya, in a statement issued on Thursday, noted that some sections of the road have become slippery due to the ongoing, earth work and rainy season, and urged road users to drive cautiously to avoid accidents. Also the ongoing casting of concrete pavement along some sections along Ewekoro axis has caused the sections to be closed and traffic diversions.
Engr. Akinsanya assured the public that the government is working tirelessly to rehabilitate and ensure the full restoration of the road’s viability. He explained that the persistent rainfall in recent weeks has slowed down the pace of work, but reaffirmed the State Government’s commitment to completing the project in record time.
He further stated that key sections such as Obada Oko, Ilese Awo, Onijanganjangan, and Ewekoro, among others, are receiving focused attention from the Contractor, as efforts are intensified to improve driving conditions and enhance accessibility.
The Commissioner emphasized that although the Lagos–Abeokuta Expressway is a federal road, the Ogun State Government, in its magnanimity and in line with its people-oriented policies, has taken over its reconstruction to ease the hardship faced by commuters. He added that this intervention is aimed at alleviating traffic congestion, reducing travel time, and preventing the loss of lives and productive hours along the corridor.
Engr. Akinsanya expressed optimism that as the rains subside, the current challenges being experienced on the road will soon be a thing of the past, assuring residents and motorists of the government’s unwavering commitment to delivering durable and quality road infrastructure across the State.
