In a shocking development, Raymond Dokpesi’s African Independent Television (AIT) one of Nigeria’s pioneering private TV stations in Nigeria and Africa has officially shut down its Alagbado, Lagos office indefinate.
According to reports, the closure was due to a severe lack of funds needed to maintain staff salaries, power supply, and essential broadcast equipment. Staff members were reportedly informed that the station could no longer sustain operations at the Alagbado branch, a move that marks another major setback for the once-vibrant media giant.
The decision has sparked reactions across the media industry, with many lamenting the harsh economic realities that continue to affect media organizations in Nigeria.
