It was a proud moment for Ogun State as the Gateway International Airport, Ilishan-Remo, recorded its first ever commercial flight on Tuesday, signaling a new era for aviation and economic growth in the state.
Among the dignitaries present at the landmark event was Hon. (Engr.) Joseph Folorunso Adegbesan, member representing Ijebu North, Ijebu East, and Ogun Waterside Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, who joined other national legislators and top officials to witness the maiden ValueJet flight from Ogun to Abuja.
Hon. Adegbesan, who was full of admiration, felicitated with Governor Dapo Abiodun, CON, and the people of Ogun State, describing the development as “a bold step toward positioning Ogun as a key player in Nigeria’s aviation and investment landscape.
According to him “This is visionary leadership in action. Governor Dapo Abiodun has proven that purposeful governance delivers lasting legacies. The Gateway International Airport is not just an infrastructure project it’s a bridge to future opportunities,”
The maiden flight by ValueJet Airline, which landed safely at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, was witnessed by an excited crowd of dignitaries, industry stakeholders, and well-wishers who hailed the project as a monumental success.
Hon. Adegbesan further commended the Abiodun led administration for its developmental drive, noting that the airport will serve as a catalyst for tourism, trade, and youth employment in the state
“Great leaders don’t wait for opportunities; they create them. The Gateway Airport is a shining symbol of Ogun’s readiness for greater things,” he added.
The event marked a turning point in Ogun’s journey toward industrial and economic transformation a moment Hon. Adegbesan described as “a victory for vision, courage, and collective progress.”
