Ogun State Police Restored Normalcy In Roro Village After Herdsboy’s Murder — Ogun CP

By Juliet Nnoje, Abeokuta

The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, has assured residents of Roro Village, Mile 8 in Obafemi Owode Local Government that peace has fully returned following the recent murder of a herdsboy on a farmland.

Speaking to our newsman, Ogunlowo said that initial fears of reprisal attacks had been doused through proactive police intervention.

According to him, the Divisional Police Officer in Kenta was directed to convene a meeting with community leaders, farmers, and cattle rearers, during which all parties resolved to maintain peace.

The CP explained that anxiety began when a cattle rearer reported his son missing after being chased away from a farm. As search efforts intensified, rumors spread of an impending invasion by Fulani herders. Community members, hunters, and the police jointly mobilized to locate the boy, whose body was later discovered in a shallow grave.

Ogunlowo confirmed that the suspected killer was arrested, along with the gun and cutlass allegedly used in the crime. He said the victim’s remains had been exhumed and properly buried at the request of his family.

“As I speak, the suspect is in custody. We have maintained transparency throughout this process, and I can confidently say there is no cause for alarm. Normalcy has returned to the community,” the CP stated.

He added that tactical teams were deployed for “confidence-building patrols” to reassure residents of their safety, stressing that no reprisals had been recorded since the incident.

The Commissioner further encouraged citizens to remain law-abiding, assuring them of police presence in the area. He also reminded the public of the Ogun State Police Command’s emergency contact system, available even without internet access, via 08000009111.
