Govt will rollout policies to cushion of effect of current economic situation - Abiodun

By Our Correspondent

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has assured the citizens of the State and the country at large that the current administration in the country would continue to roll out policies and programmes that would cushion the various effects of the current economic situation.

Prince Abiodun, who gave the assurance during the Special Jumat Service to mark the 63rd National Day Celebration of the Country, held at the Central Mosque, Kobiti, Abeokuta, noted that, ‘’ though the times are hard, patience is important as the government at the centre and States are doing all it can to make life more meaningful for the masses’’.

Represented by his Deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, Governor Abiodun, called for prayers from the citizenry for God's continued guidance for the leaders so that they could make the right decisions which would bring prosperity and development for the country.

He used the opportunity to pledge his administration's renewed commitment to ensure more developmental strides which would cut across all the nooks and crannies of the State.

In his sermon,  the Mufasir of Egbaland, Alhaji Taofeek Amolegbe said it was unfortunate that in the last 63 years, the country had been battling with insecurity, economic imbalance and other issues affecting its development, calling on the leaders not to betray the trust Nigerians had on them but rule and serve with the fear of God.

While praying that God would continue to lead the leaders aright, he expressed optimism that, ‘’by 2024, the country will be better when it celebrates its 64 years’’.

In their remarks, Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Ajayi, Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, Awujale and the Paramount Ruler of IjebuLand, Oba Sikiru Adetona and Olu and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, congratulated Nigerians for reaching the milestones, and they urged all citizens of the country to contribute their quota towards the development of the country.

Earlier in his address, the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Political Affairs and Administration, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, appreciated God for bringing the country thus far, saying the journey of 63 years had been full of challenges but thanked God for mercies on the nation.
