YDUNA Donates Medical Textbooks Worth Millions Of Naira To Ogun College Of Nursing

Members of Yewa Descendants Union of North America (YDUNA), an association of indigenes of Yewaland residing in North America in conjunction with Yewa People Development Council (YDPC) has donated medical textbooks worth millions of naira to College of Nursing Science Ilaro campus in Yewa South Local Government Area of the  State as part of its contribution to the college and development of Yewaland in general.

Speaking during the handing-over of the medical textbooks to management of the institution in Ilaro, the Olu of Ilaro and Paramount ruler of Yewaland, Oba Dr. Kehinde Olugbenle commended members of YDUNA for given back to the community and making the region proud.

The Paramount ruler who enjoined other well-meaning citizens of the region, both home and abroad to emulate the kind gesture, congratulated students of the college with a call on them to make judicious use of the books.

The monarch urged the students to always work hard and aspire to attain greater height, assuring that the ongoing male and female hostels being constructed on his behalf was part of his support to the wellbeing of the institution that would soon be commissioned before the end of the year.

Earlier in her opening remarks, the Provost, Ogun State College of Nursing Science, Dr. Mrs Omotade Sodimu, appreciated YDUNA and YDPC for donating such expensive medical text  books to the institution, saying that the contribution would further enrich the learning ability and result to greater medical  learning exposure for the students as well as  enhance the quality of education being provided in the school.

According to her "as the Provost of the College of Nursing Ogun State, I pledge our commitment at ensuring that these valuable resources are well utilized to their fullest potential. We will foster a learning environment that encourage critical thinking and the desire for pursuit of knowledge. I want to assure you that your gift will catalyze excellence and  inspiring spirit in the students to excel in their studies and become future leaders in the field of nursing and healthcare".

The Director of the Institution, Mrs. Adebisi Ogunleye while appreciating Olu of Ilaro and Paramount ruler of Yewaland for his unwavering support for the college said, funding of education could not be left in the hand of government alone. She appealed to well-meaning sons and daugthers of Yewa land both within and in Diaspora to support in the development of the school through their donation among others  that would further improve the  condition of the school faciliity.

In her address, the President of the union, and a United State Navy Chief, Mrs Wuraola Adenike Oje pointed out that, the gesture was a manifestation of commitment of members of Yewa Descendants Union, under the tutelage of Oba Olugbenle with support from other royal fathers throughout Yewaland. 

The President who affirmed that the union was ready to further contribute its quota to the development of the region, on behalf of all members of YDUNA, congratulated the school management and the students for the successful accreditation of the college and charged them to make judicious use of the books among other facilities in their possession.
