Democracy Day: June 12 Is A Turning Point In Nigeria’s Political Journey- Gov. Abiodun

The Ogun state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has said that, the June 12, 1993 Election mandate was a turning point for Nigeria’s democracy and played a significant role in the country’s political journey as an entity.

Abiodun stated this on Monday in his address during the celebration of Nigeria Democracy Day held at MKO Abiola stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta the state capital.

He noted that, the significance of the June 12, 1993 presidential election, which was won by Abiola but annulled by then military government.

He also attributed the loyalty of President Bola Tinubu to the late Chief Moshood Abiola as a key factor in his becoming the president of Nigeria.

He however, praise the former president, Muhammad Buhari for proclaming June 12 as Nigeria Democracy Day and Abiola as GCFR.

According to him “June 12 is a turning point in Nigeria’s political journey as an entity”.

“His loyalty to Abiola, who is widely regarded as a symbol of democracy in Nigeria, may be seen as a positive factor for his presidential prospects”.

“I commend and salute the former president Muhammadu Buhari for proclaiming MKO Abiola as GCFR.
