OGUN COMMUNITY EMPOWERED WITH #.9MILLION

In continuation of its sustained efforts to contribute to the progress of the community and welfare of the people, Anowoneyo Area Community Development Committee of Irete-Ijebu has presented loans as a form of empowerment to traders, farmer and artisans in the community.

Speaking on the efforts of the community development council in the town, the Onirete of Irete, Oba Yesufu Awokoya, said that the community places high premium on communal efforts in the upliftment of the people and overall development of the land.

According to the monarch, "from various building under construction to serve as the community market to the electrification to leverage on the transformer donated by the Ogun State Government, the people of Irete-Ijebu have taken up the responsibility of the development of the community.

"God has blessed us with selfless and committed individuals who are ready to give everything for the repositioning of the land and the good of the people".

With thirty two people who are mainly women benefitting from nine hundred and ten thousand naira empowerment money, Anowoneyo Area Community Development Council of Irete Ijebu has decided to take the investment in people and creation of revolving wealth a step further.

Chairman of Odogbolu local government, Hon. Shuaib Ladejobi who expressed his delight seeing people of Irete coming together for the progress of their land, promised to give the town more support of his administration.

On his own, the Chairman of Anowoneyo Area Community Development Committee, Otunba Saheed Dosumu encouraged the beneficiaries of the empowerment money to make judicious use of its. 

While imploring those that are yet to benefit in the empowerment programme to be patient, Otunba Dosumu assured that since the programme is a continuous exercise, it would get to everyone of them as soon as possible.

Representatives of the ministry of community development and cooperatives commended the efforts of the area CDC and encouraged the beneficiaries to ensure they pay back so that others could also benefit.

In his vote of thanks, the Vice Chairman of the AACDC, Dr Salau Gbabere, appreciated the State government and management of the State Ministry of Community Development and Cooperatives, authority of Odogbolu Local government, the donors , Oba Awokoya-Yesufu, including elders that were present for their support, stating that Ijebu-Irete AACDC would not relent at enhancing the capacity of the people in the area to make choice and transform those choices into desired action.

While thanking the AACDC, Mrs Jaiyeoba, who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries, thanked the organizers for the kind gesture with a promised that the money would be used for the designed purposes.

At end of the empowerment programme, a total amount of #2.7 million was generated from the dignitaries at the event for the sustainability of the empowerment program.
