The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, psc(+), NPM, NEAPS, fdc, CFR, has decorated the newly promoted DIG Kayode Egbetokun, 24 AIGs and 33 CPs.
IGP Alkali Baba, during the decoration ceremony held at the Goodluck Jonathan Peacekeeping Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja, Thursday, 6th April, 2023, charged the Senior Police Officers to internalize and uphold the tenets of the Presidential Police Reform Agenda while emphasizing respect for fundamental human rights and rule of law as enshrined in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The IGP tasked them to bring their wealth of experience to bear in their new postings which will be in tandem with their new ranks.
According to a statement by the Force spokesperson, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the recent promotion approved by the Police Service Commission to deserving officers who have the requisite experience, years of dedicated service and academic records.
He said, a total of 58 Senior Police Officers were decorated comprising Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG) Adeolu Olukayode Egbetokun, mni, who was until his promotion the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 7, Abuja; twenty-four (24) Assistant Inspectors-General of Police including AIGs Matthew Akinyosola, Jonathan Towuru, Abiodun Alabi, Akande Sikiru, Abimbola Shokoya, Yekini Ayoku, Olofu Adejoh, Aliyu Garba, Idrisu Dabban, Yusuf Usman, Haladu Ros-Amson, Babaita Ishola, Alexander Wannang, Ari Muhammed, Mamman Sanda, Sadiq Abubakar, Frank Mba, Benjamin Okolo, Oyediran Oyeyemi, Babaji Sunday, Arungwa Udo, Yusuf Chiromawa, and thirty-three Commissioners of Police.
“In attendance were the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, CFR; Chairman, Senate Committee on Police Affairs, Senator Haliru Jika; Chairman, House Committee on Police Affairs, Hon. Bello Kumo; Former Governor of Zamfara State, Ahmad Sani Yerima; the POWA President, Hajia Hajara Usman Alkali Baba, and a host of dignitaries and well-wishers from across the society.
“Also present is the paramount ruler of Yewa in Ogun State, HRM Oba Dr. Kehinde Olugbenle MFR”, Adejobi stated.

AIG Kayode Egbetokun, who enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force as Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police on 3rd March 1990 has been decorated with the rank of Deputy Inspector-General of Police, DIG, by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba.
Egbetokun has worked in many commands, Formations and Departments of the Force, and has held the following various sensitive positions within the Force: Chief Security Officer to the governor of Lagos state between 1999 and 2005. Commader, Lagos state special anti crime outfit, The Rapid Response Squad (RRS) Lagos. Commander No 5 Police Mobile Force Squadron (MOPOL 5) Benin, Benin city. Officer in Charge Anti Fraud section, FCT Command CID Abuja. CSP A, Lagos state Command, Lagos.
Also include, Area Commander Osogbo, Osun state. Area Commander, Gusau, Zamfara state. Commandant Police Training School, Ikeja. Deputy Commandant, Police College, Ikeja. Commissioner of Police SERVICOM, F Department, FHQ, Abuja. Commissioner of Police, Explosive Ordinance Disposal, EOD. Commissioner of Police Kwara Command.
He has attended several courses both locally and internationally, including but not limited to Close Protection Course in the UK. Squadron Commanders Combat Operation courses both at Desert Camp Gwoza and Forest Camp, Ila.
Egbetokun has also participated in the Global Conference in Chemical Security and Emerging Threats held at Lyon, France, in 2018.
The latest DIG is a proud alumnus of the prestigious University of Lagos, Akoka where he bagged the first degree in Mathematics in 1987, masters degree in Engineering Analysis and a certification in Computer Programming and Electronic Data Processing.
He also holds the Masters of Business Administration degree (MBA) of Lagos State University, Post Graduate Diploma in Petroleum Economics from Delta State University.
DIG Egbetokun just completed the PhD program in Peace and Security Studies at Alhikma University, Ilorin.
His last posting was Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG Zone 7, Abuja.
Before his elevation to AIG, he was the CP (Admin) Police Hospital, Falomo.
DIG Egbetokun is from Erinja-Orile in Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State, thus by his side during the hanging of the new rank is The Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, Oba Dr Kehinde Olugbenle MFR., Chief (Dr) Ibrahim Dende EGUNGBOHUN, the CEO IBD Hotels.
He is happily married with children.
