EID-EL-FITR: Hon J F Adegbesan Congratulates Muslims Faithfuls, Tasks Them On Lessons of Ramadan

By Our Correspondent

House of Representatives member-elect Hon. Joseph Folorunsho Adegbesan has congratulated and felicitated with Muslims in Nigeria and across the world particularly his constituents for the successful conclusion of this year’s Holy month of Ramadan, when Muslims observe ‘Sawm’.

The member-elect noted that the grace given Muslims to complete the fasting period, which culminates into this year’s Eid-el-Fitr, is a renewal of hope in the faith and the need to constantly show gratitude to Almighty Allah for His provision, love and protection.

Hon. Adegbesan, in a statement released by his media office, commended Muslim faithfuls in Nigeria for their prayers during the Ramadan period, expressing optimism that Nigeria would soon begin to experience a new direction with the forthcoming change of leadership baton between President Muhammadu Buhari and Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Adegbesan thanked the good people of Ijebu North/Ijebu East and Ogun Waterside Federal Constituency for keeping faith with Prince Dapo Abiodun led government and constantly supporting it to succeed.

He also praised Nigerians for remaining resolute and resilient with the hope of seeing the country of their dream just as he urged Muslims not to forget the lessons embedded in the holy month of Ramadan and Eid-el-Fitr celebration praying that Allah accept their fasting and prayers as an act of Ibadah.

According to him, Ramadan has come to reform the faithfuls and taught them how to live a selfless and Godly life.

“The lessons learnt during the days of fasting should not be eroded on the altar of celebration. We should be moderate in our celebrations and continue to extend love to others. Our kindness to one another and service to humanity should extend beyond the month of Ramadan.

Let’s sustain those virtues of self-purification, sacrifice, self-discipline, and being compassionate to fellow Neighbors.

"We should do away with all sinful acts that were discarded during Ramadan period. Above all, our priority as a people should include praying for our nation to overcome its economic and security challenges” he said.

He stressed further that Nigeria as a nation had greatly enjoyed the benevolence of God. “Almighty Allah has been good to us in Nigeria. We can all attest to this looking at how far we have trudged as a nation in quest of happiness for its citizens.

“No doubt, the citizens have also continued to help the country through our love for one another, our unending efforts to keep Nigeria United and above all, our prayers and supplications to Almighty Allah.

“We must remain conscious of the lessons of Ramadan and continue to put them into practice beyond this period.

Now that our hopes are renewed ahead May 29th inauguration of Nigeria’s next administration, let’s continue to seek the face of Almighty Allah to help the government meet the yearnings of citizens.

“Beyond this celebration, we need not forget that there is strength unity. Thus, we must shun vices that can likely put pegs on our collective aspirations for a better Nigeria".
