By Toyin Olotuyemi, Abeokuta
Leaders of all the commodity markets in all 20 Local Government Areas of Ogun State have endorsed Prince Dapo Abiodun, the Governor of Ogun State for second term in Office.
Rising from their monthly meeting held at the Centenary Hall, Ake in Abeokuta on Wednesday, the market women and men declared support for Governor Dapo Abiodun's re-election, saying the endorsement becomes important in order to allow the All Progressives Congress, APC-led Government in the State to complete all the ongoing projects.
Speaking on behalf of all market women and men, Iyaloja General of Ogun State, Mrs Yemisi Abass, noted that "this is the first time in the history of Ogun State that a Government would pay leaders of market salaries for their upkeep."
Mrs Abass, who is also the Iyaloja of Yewaland, which covers five Local Government Areas in Ogun West Senatorial District, submitted that "a vote for Governor Dapo Abiodun is a vote for continuity of lofty projects and good job he has been doing all over the State."
Also, Iyaloja of Egbaland, Mrs Oluwakemi Oloyede, who hosted the monthly meeting, said that market women and men in Egbaland, that covers six Local Government Areas of Ogun Central Senatorial District, had decided to support and re-elect Prince Dapo Abiodun as Governor of Ogun State.
Responding on behalf of the Government, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Funmilayo Efuwape, lauded the market women and men for being united to re-elect Prince Dapo Abiodun, saying Abiodun remains the candidate to beat in the coming Governorship election in the State.
Efuwape, who spoke in company of the Commissioners for Culture and Tourism, and Special Duties, Hon. Adijat Adeleye-Oladapo and Hon Olufemi Ilori, said, "This is a convergence of market women and men in Egbaland and Ogun State, they have given us their word that they will come out en mass to vote for Dapo Abiodun on Saturday because of the good works he has been doing in the State.
"Infact, you can see that they confirmed that this is the first time in the history of Ogun State that they (market leaders) are being paid salaries through a regime and we know that the good works of Dapo Abiodun will continue to speak for him.
"In Itoku market for instance, we have started a preliminary work of boreholes and toilets in the market. That is how we have been doing for all the markets in the State.
"So, the endorsement of Dapo Abiodun and APC proved them (market leaders) to be worthy of trust. It's a further assurance that they will give us more votes than what they did during Presidential and National Assembly elections in the coming Governorship and State Assembly polls."
