An abandoned World Bank Assisted Rural Electrification project in Ketu area of Yewa North LGA to serve 57 communities is to be completed by Senator Solomon Adeola, the chairman of Senate Committee on Finance and APC senatorial candidate for Ogun West senatorial district to the tune of N50million.

The senator made the pledge for the completion of the project among other pledges that he redeemed on the spot at Oja-Odan over the weekend during his ward to ward campaign tour of Yewa North LGA. The tour took him to 4 wards and many communities including Ebute, Oja-Odan, Ohunbe, Igbeme, Tata, Eggua, Igan-Alade, Owode-Ketu and Ijoun.

“It is shocking that there is a World Bank Assisted Rural Electrification Project that is over 90% completed and abandoned following the expiration of the global finance body financial assistance. From the narration here, I am willing to see to the completion of the project that will benefit 57 communities in the senatorial district I intends to represent. I am sure that completion of this project which has been abandoned for years will greatly assist human and economic development of these communities” the senator stated.
The senator however stated that a full briefing should be provided for him on the project and what specifically needs to be done for completion adding that but for the scanty information available, he would have authorized the release of fund for its completion at the instance.

“If indeed only N50 million is required to complete this otherwise laudable project that is partly World Bank financed, then this speaks volume to the kind of representation my people have endured all these years. The project could easily be completed in one budget cyle through facilitation by an effective representative” he stated.

Senator Adeola also released N5 million for the market women at Oja Odan for the completion of a maize storage facility with capacity for 400 bags, release another N5million for the ongoing palace building of Oba Basiru Oyero, the Onijale of Ijale Ketu, donated transformers to be supplied before election to Ohunbe, Oja-Odan, Igan-Alade and Ijoun while promising to complete ongoing Police Stations at Eggua and Ijoun, as well as build a brand new 8-classroom block, offices and toilets in Yewa North Primary School at Ijoun.

Senator Adeola reiterated his programme of empowering 5000 market men and women with cash grant for which forms are already in circulation, training and empowering 5000 youths as well as the ongoing training of 200 physically challenged persons to be empowered with N100,000 each to start business they received training.

Earlier on at Oja-Odan market where about a thousand persons had converged to receive Senator Adeola, a former member of the Ogun state House of Assembly, Hon. Job Akintan told the senator of the abandoned World Bank Assisted project requiring only about N50 million to complete stressing that his effert in association with serving Hon. Haruna Egungbohun is yet to yield any positive result for the benefit of the 57 communities in Ketu axis of Yewa North LGA.
