OGSG, ENERGY INSTITUTE TRAIN CITIZENS ON SOLAR POWER INSTALLATION, OTHERS

  Towards addressing the nation’s energy supply challenges, Ogun State Government in collaboration with ASTEVENS Renewable Energy Institute, Aseese in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area, has trained 20 citizens on Solar Energy Installation and Maintenance, as well as construction of Inverters for homes and industrial use.


Speaking at the presentation of certificates to the trainees at the Institute’s headquarters, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Energy, Mr. Olaniji Aisida said the programme was part of the capacity enhancement efforts of the Prince Dapo Abiodun led-administration to equip the people with the required skills for vocational and entrepreneurial development, towards exploring other alternatives ways of surmounting the epileptic power supply.

 

         Aisida appreciated the collaborative support of the Institute for its commitment to further creating a business-friendly atmosphere that would allow for more corporate and private investments to thrive in the States.

   

        Also speaking, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Finance, Mr. Dimeji Bello stated that the present administration places a high premium on sustainable and effective infrastructural development, with a special reference to Power generation and supply.

    

       "This is a very laudable collaboration that will further provide an opportunity to our people on Solar power management and its attendant usefulness. The Ogun State Government will not relent in its determination at providing the required business skills for the people to be self-reliant and better productive’’, he noted.


Speaking earlier, the Managing Director, ASTEVENS group, Hon. Kabiru Shagaya, said the Renewable Energy Academy was the foremost indigenous company involved in Solar Power Management, noting that the decision to partner with the State government was to leverage its tertiary education status and developmental feats, based on the innumerable achievements recorded by the Prince Dapo Abiodun led-administration.

      

     "When we were looking for where to situate our Institute, there was no better option than Ogun State because largely due to its fast growing economy and the status of owning more higher technological institutions than any other State which signifies the size of its productive labour force and this has been exemplified in our series of engagement, confirming the State as an indeed investors destination of choice", he submitted.


 Earlier two of the participants, a 14-year-old boy, Emmanuel Gods-power and Adeboye Esther, a female teacher, both agreed that the training was a great opportunity for income generation and has enhanced their capacity on the importance of Solar Energy, its importance and other alternative means of generating power, such as building up inverters and many others.


They appreciated the partners for the privilege, appealing to the government for financial and logistic empowerment to ply the learned trade.


Highlights of the programme was the presentation of certificates to the trainees and a facility tour of the Institute.
