Dangote Truck Set Ablaze After Crushes Family Of Three To Death In Ijebu-Ode

A truck belonging to Dangote Cement Factory on Thursday was set ablaze on Thursday afternoon  after crushed a family of three to death, and injured another one in Ijebu Ode area of Ogun state.

Information reaching us is that the deceased were heading home after the close of work for the day when the unfortunate incident happened.

The ugly incident occurred around the Ibadan garage roundabout in the town. The motorcyclist, otherwise known as Okada Rider was carrying his wife and daughter when they were hit by the truck.

As It was further gathered, the Dangote truck heading towards Lagos Garage, shortly after running over the deceased, made a U-turn at UBA roundabout in an attempt to escape the scene.

Eye witnesses confirmed that some residents pursued the fleeing truck driver and caught up with him at Imowo area of Ijebu Ode.

Though, he was reported to have escaped being lynched, the truck was set ablaze by the mob.

Dr Sonde Idowu, Ijebu Ode Unit Commander of TRACE while confirming the incident disclosed that the truck driver was trying to maneuver a pothole at the Ibadan Garage roundabout, and in the process hit the Okada man who was carrying a mother and her kid.

The TRACE boss added that three people died instantly, while a minor also sustained injury.

However, Sonde said the arrival of officers from the Police Area Command, Igbeba saved the driver from being lynched by the angry mob, while the partially burnt Dangote vehicle was taken to the command.
