2023: Tinubu is God chosen, says ex-Army Chief

By Ahmed 'Lateef

A former Commander of Nigerian Army Artillery, Major General Hussein Abayomi Salihu, has said that the Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, was God chosen to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.

He said the citizens who are concerned about better country, future of their children and unborn children would have to queue behind the aspiration of Tinubu when casting their ballots in the next presidential election.

Salihu, who is the North Central, Coordinator, Northern Alliance Committee (NAC) for Tinubu, spoke in Ilorin on Wednesday at the inauguration of the Kwara State chapter of the alliance committee.

The NAC, which covers 19 Northern States, is canvassing the actualization of the presidential ambition of Tinubu, who is a former Governor of Lagos State.

Salihu explained that whoever aspiring to lead the country at the critical moment of insecurity must demonstrate capacity and capability and pointed out that the antecedents of the politician showed he is adept at recruiting round pegs and in round holes.

On the controversy about the APC presidential flag-bearer health status, the retired Army Chief described the claim as a mere propaganda from the opponents, saying that the candidate is very fit.

"We want better Nigeria for ourselves, children and unborn children. Tinubu is God chosen. If God says this is the best, don't let us use our hands to turn things to what we might later regret doing", he said.

He told leaders and members of the alliance committee to return to their wards and villages to be able to project the candidacy of Tinubu for 2023.

The State Chairman of the NAC, Mr David Abu Ifabiyi, urged the newly inaugurated departmental heads of the support group to immediately hit the ground running so as to actualize the dream of Tinubu becoming the next President.

The event featured inauguration of officials of the the state chapter of the group with handing over of letters of appointment to them.
