WE’LL FOCUS MORE ON GRASSROOTS DEVT - COMMISSIONER

The newly appointed Commissioner for Community Development and Cooperatives, Hon. Abayomi Korotoe-Hunye has pledged his readiness to ensure rapid development at the grassroots through community involvement.


Korotoe-Hunye disclosed this during a chat with OGIS correspondent in his office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, saying participatory governance was essential in  realisation of the ‘ISEYA’ mantra of the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration.


The Commissioner said the Ministry would continue to formulate people-oriented policies and programmes for improved socio-economic development of the State, saying, " I will work hand in hand with the staff of the Ministry to focus on grassroots development and bring more dividends of democracy to the people because larger percentage of them live in the rural areas’’.


Hon. Korotoe-Hunye appreciated Governor Abiodun for his appointment, saying the government would not relent in supporting Community Development Associations in the execution of mini projects such as boreholes, community halls, health centers, and road rehabilitation, among others.


In a related development, his counterpart in the Ministry of  Culture and Tourism, Hon. Adijat Adeleye-Oladapo has urged staffers to develop ideas that would add value to the culture and tourism sectors towards increasing the State’s  Internally Generated Revenue.


Hon. Adeleye-Oladapo stated this during a meeting with members of the management in her office at Oke Mosan, Abeokuta, saying they should synergise in achieving an excellent result that would place the State on tourism  world map.


She added that one of her goals was to make the Ministry worthy of emulation, noting that "I am a team player, who loves doing things excellently. I am looking forward to ways to improve on the successes already recorded by the Ministry. No man is a fountain of knowledge, all I want from you is a smooth and cordial working relationship”.


In his remark, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr. Olusegun Olaotan pledged the management and entire staff’s readiness to cooperate with her, as past achievements of the Ministry were due to teamwork.
