By Jumoke Adeogun, Abeokuta

The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has approved the release of Grants-in-Aid to the Community Development Council (CDC)  in the State.

Prince Abiodun disclosed this in Abeokuta, at a meeting with leaders of the CDC and Community Development Associations (CDAs) in all the 20 Local Government Areas, saying the government realised their immense contributions and support to the development of the State through the execution of self-help projects.

The Governor said efforts were in top gear to hand over Transformers to CDC and CDAs' Chairmen for onward distribution to the needed communities, assuring that the meeting would be held regularly to discuss issues affecting the wellbeing of the people.

He noted that his administration had resolved to complete all abandoned projects that would add economic value to the lives of the people, saying, “we have constructed at least a road in all the 20 Local Government Areas, rehabilitated schools, and provided them with furniture so that the State can continue to deliver quality education”.

The Governor added that the Multimodal Transportation System recently launched, with a pilot Bus Transit programme in the State capital, as well as the reconstruction of major federal roads such as the Ijebu-Ode-Epe, Sagamu -Siun-Abeokuta, and Atan-Lusada-Agbara roads, were to ensure that people carry out economic activities without stress.

While speaking on the plans that would further open up the State for more investments and social activities, Abiodun revealed that the Ogun LightUp project was initiated to provide constant power supply to the nooks and crannies of the State, assuring that Mowe, Ibafo, and Abeokuta would benefit from the urbanisation project that would commence soon.

Responding, the Chairman, Community Development Council, Ogun Central, Alhaji Waheed Adekunle, who appreciated the Governor for interacting with them,  called on him to rehabilitate the Social Development Institute, Shasha, Ilisan- Remo, extend empowerment programmes to youths in communities to make them self-reliant, and support the Council to mark the 2022 Community Year in November.
