Ogun West APC 'll Not Succumb To Blackmail, Advise NWC To Ignore Misguided Elements

By Our Correspondent

Ogun West  Senatorial District of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State on Thursday declared that it would not allowed itself to be blackmailed by any aspirant or group into excluding another in the race for the district's 2023 Senatorial ticket.

Ogun West APC also affirmed that an aspirant, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola having duly transfered his APC membership to Ilaro Ward 1 in Yewa South local government of Ogun is a bonafide member of the party in Ogun West and entitled to all rights and privileges of a member, including contesting for any position he so desires as guaranteed by the constitution of the APC and that of Nigeria.

Reacting to a news item in a television station and unsigned communique by a  "Committee of Concerned Ogun West Patriots Under the umbrella of "Ogun West Elders, Leaders and Stakeholders," the Ogun West Extended Executive of the APC in a release made available to newsmen said the Committee of Concerned Ogun West Patriots is a gathering of supporters of former governor Ibikunle Amosun and the failed candidate of African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate in the 2019 governorship election, Gboyega Nasiru Isiaka, GNI.

The Ogun West Extended Executive of the APC in the said release jointly signed by Alhaji Azeez Mohammed( APC Ogun West Senatorial Chairman), Elder Lai Oguntade (Senatorial Secretary), Hon. J. J. Akeran (Chairman, APC Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area,LGA), Hon. Segun Olalotan(Chairman, APC, Imeko Afon LGA), Hon. Taiwo Wepetoji (Chairman, APC, Ipokia LGA), Chief Kunle Adeosun (Chairman, APC Yewa North LGA) and Alhaji Adenle (Chairman, APC, Yewa South), also noted that Senator Iyabo Anisulowo who spoke for the Committee, is an inactive member of the APC in Ogun West and in Ogun State.

The signatories noted that Senator Anisulowo had refused to participate in the activities of APC since 2019, including leadership meetings of the party held severally in her backyard at Ilaro, adding that "she is a prominent leader of those who worked against the interest of the APC in the 2019 general elections."

According to them, Anisulowo membership, commitment and loyalty to the APC is doubtful while since her purported return to the party sometimes in 2021, she has never attended the meeting of APC in her ward but rather attempted to set up a parallel illegal APC structure but failed woefully in that direction.

They therefore called on these misguided individuals now parading themselves as ‘patriotic’ Yewa -Awori indigenes and “conscience of our people,” to desist from  placing their selfish pursuit and personal interest above the larger community interest as they have been doing over the years.

The APC leaders in Ogun also called on the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party to ignore the political tantrums of these elements who wanted to infect the progressive party with their old undemocratic and archaic system that had yielded little dividends to the party and Ogun West.

The Ogun West Extended Executive of the APC press release reads in full below:

"A news report in a Television Station and an unsigned communique allegedly issued by a  "Committee of Concerned Ogun West Patriots Under the umbrella of "Ogun West Elders, Leaders and Stakeholders" in the All Progressives Congress (APC) has come to the attention of the leadership of the All Progressives Congress in the Ogun West Senatorial District of Ogun State.  The communique being unsigned suggests that the promoters of the said Ogun West Patriots are not courageous enough to openly identify with the communique and should have been ignored. However, because of the news report in a Television Station which put some faces to the identity of those behind the unsigned communique, the Ogun West Extended  Executive of the APC have decided to respond to correct the clear misinformation, blackmail and propaganda being promoted by the said Committee of Concerned Ogun West Patriots.

We therefore call on this misguided individuals who now parade themselves as ‘patriotic’ Yewa -Awori indigenes and “conscience of our people”, to desist from  placing their selfish pursuit and personal interest above the larger community interest as they have being doing over the years and allow the wish of the majority of APC members in Ogun West and indeed Ogun West indigenes to prevail.

While call on the National Working Committee (NWC) of our great party to ignore the political tantrums of these elements who want to infect our progressive party with their old undemocratic and archaic system that has yielded little dividends to the party and Ogun West
