Six Princes Jostle For Oniwasinmi Stool

Six candidates are now jostling for the stool of Oniwasinmi of Wasinmi land in Ewekoro Local Government areas of Ogun State, High Chief Lawrence Olusoji Ilori Balogun, the Regent of Wasinmi has said.

The stool of Oniwasimi became vacant following the demise of the incumbent, Oba Dr Babatunde Emmanuel Osuntogun late last year which led to the installation in January, this year of High Chief Lawrence Olusoji Ilori Balogun as regence.

The interested candidates from Egba Ake sections of Wasinmi include, Otunba Enitan Olusola, Chief Jolaosho Sufi Sunday, Aare of Wasinmi and Hon. Musibau Olawale Akinwunmi. 

Others are Chief Yekini Ahmed Lekan, Baale Kemta Akum, Chief Abiodun Shoji and Prince Olugbemi. 

According to High Chief Lawrence Olusoji Ilori Balogun, Chief Jolaosho Sufi Sunday is !!the Aare of Wasinmi and Hon. Musibau Olawale Akinwunmi was a former Councillor representing Wasinmi/Mosan ward between 2011-2015, a farmer and business tycoon, Chief Yekini Ahmed Lekan, Baale Kemta Akum, a business mongul and Estate and property agent while Chief Abiodun Shoji and Prince Olugbemi are based in United States of America. 

He said,  there are four sections of Egba in Wasinmi, Egba Ale, Egba Oke-Ona, Egba Gbagura and Egba Owu and which they are qualified to produce candidate or candidates at their respective time.

Meanwhile, It is Egba Ake turn and whoever that wants to Join the vacant Stool of Oniwasinmi of Wasinmi land must be a son of Egba Ake and not from any other sections, he noted, insisting "I want to assure you that we Know ourselves in Wasinmi".

He added the late Oba Dr Babatunde Emmanuel Osuntogun Oniwasinmi of Wasinmi was installed in 2003 and he joined his ancestors on Monday 13th of December, 2021. 

Late Oba Dr Babatunde Emmanuel Osuntogun was from Gbagura Section, Egba Ake will produce next Oba for Wasinmi and would be followed by Egba Owu and others.

Chief Ilori Lawrence said within two weeks Egba Ale  will be presenting candidate or candidates to the Kingmakers and Wasinmi in Council for assessment and evaluation process.

Meanwhile Wasinmi is controlling over 52 villages both from west to east and south to north.
