Ogun APC cautions journalist on misinformation - Tunde Oladunjoye

Ogun APC cautions journalist on misinformation - Tunde Oladunjoye

By Our Correspondent

The attention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun state has been drawn to a report published by your medium today, Sunday, February 6, 2022 that a  magistrates’ court sitting in Isabo, Abeokuta, has sentenced “two politicians in Ogun State, Adewale Ogundele and Ibrahim Amoje, to one year’s imprisonment without any option of fine.”

While the  court ruling was true, however, not surprisingly and unprofessionally, your reporter ascribed that  “the police had arrested the two convicts on October 16, 2021 at the venue of the state congress of the All Progressives Congress held at the Ake Palace ground for being in possession of illegal weapons”.

You may choose to ask your reporter, renowned for slanting of reports when it comes to our party in Ogun State, why he chose and continues to thread this opprobrious and unethical line. Our party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) held its State Congress on October 16, 2021 at the MKO Abiola  Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta.

This was what was reported by other media, except Daud Olatunji of The Punch.
If your reporter had illusion about the organizers of the political gathering at Ake Palace on October 16, 2022, he could have asked his colleagues, fellow  correspondents in other media. We are however aware  that this same reporter went ahead to analyse the APC Congress held at MKO Abiola Stadium and the political gathering at Ake Palace few days after the events on Rockcity FM, where, as usual, he did not hide his support for the organisers of the Ake jamboree. You may wish to ask for the tape of the radio programme.

Our party inaugurated the Ogun State APC Chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi, along with 33 others on February 4, 2022 in Abuja thereby confirming beyond any reasonable doubt, the State Congress held on  October 16, 2022 at MKO Abiola.

The inauguration held in Abuja was widely reported in local and international media, including The Punch. You may therefore wish to ask your state correspondent, why he still stuck-to-his-candy by insisting, against  all other  publications, that the APC held its State Congress at Ake Palace, when he knew very well that was not true.

It’s our humble request that this misinformation should not only be promptly corrected, but also that your editors should be more discerning with reports from your Ogun State Correspondent.

The Punch newspaper is renowned for decades of integrity,  robust and unbiased reporting that must not be sacrificed on the altar of transient pecuniary considerations by any employee, no matter who.
