After 27 years of Obaship tussle in Ijebu-Igbo, new Orimolusi to emerges

27 years after the demise of the last Orimolusi, Oba Samuel Adetayo, Ikupakude IV who joined his ancestors on the 28th May, 1994, a fresh breeze has blown in the ancient city, as news of a new Orimolusi-Elect filters in the air.

According to multiple sources, the State Government had swung into action via the Local Government whose responsibility is to organise and supervise the selection of any monarch under its jurisdiction, having secured and interpreted the Supreme Court verdict over the lingering litigation surrounding the throne.

Warrant Chiefs were officially inaugurated December 21, 2021 with a clear instruction to elect a new King among the contending Princes abinitio before the court process hence closing the door on new entrants.

According to the official document sent to the Chiefs as signed by the Attorney General of the State, Saliu Adebisi Sadiku, Lawrence Jaiyeoba Adebajo, Adebona Adelana Atanda Adesemowo, Moshood Popoola Seriki, Godwin Okide Adeneye Okuneye, Mushafau Omowale Kassim, Olusegun Adegbenga Omowale Osiba and Oladimeji Aderemi Adegbesan are the only names the Warrant Chiefs must select from subject to the fact that, the elected must be from the Male lineage of the ruling house.

Guidelines and State Government Interpretation of Supreme Court Verdict sent to Warrant Chiefs

At their final sitting session yesterday 4th of January, 2022, the Warrant Chiefs after several seatings, deliberations and screening of the candidates had their final session and election between the two main candidates namely; Prince Saliu Adebisi Sadiku also known as Baba Ilu Oyinbo and Prince Lawrence Jaiyeoba Adebajo.

The result of the election according to the local government authority indicated that ; Prince Adebisi Sadiku polled 4Votes while Prince Lawrence Jaiyeoba Adebajo had 6votes respectively.

The certificate of nomination by the Warrant Chiefs was presented to PRINCE LAWRENCE JAYEOBA ADEBAJO who had polled the highest votes.

Sources, noted that the Council Chairman, Mr Bolaji Odusanya had immediately delivered the process report to the State Government while security men has been deployed to the elected Prince abode to forstall any breakdown of law and order and ensure peace and stability.

Similarly, Sons and Daughters of the ancient town had took to the social media to express their joy as the long await is over. In different post, many had claimed the siege is indeed over, while many congratulated the Council Chairman Mr Bolaji Odusanya for a speedy action taken to ensure the enthronement process began without delay. However, congratulatory messages had began to flow in by sons and daughters of the land to the new Elected King.
