The Honourable Representing Ijebu North, Ijebu East, Ogun Waterside Federal Constituency, Abuja. Rt. Honorable Prince Abdel-Majid Adesegun Adekoya (ATTACKER), who is also the House Deputy Minority Whip has described the former Governor of Ogun State Otunba Gbenga Daniel OGD as the best candidates for Ogun East Senatorial District Senator come 2023.
Hon. Abdel-Majid Adesegun Adekoya stated this in a press statement issued and signed by his media aids Prince Taiwo Nodiru.
He Explained that, Ogun East Senatorial District is a major segment of Ogun State in the South Western part of Nigeria. Being the largest of the three (3) Senatorial Districts in Ogun State with nine (9) strong and economically viable local government areas out of the entire twenty (20) constitutionally recognized LGs in Ogun State. Therefore, Ogun East contain / control 48% of the Ogun State political space.
Ogun East has been blessed with men and women of timber and caliber, men and women of impeccable character, national / international figures.
Some of the Ogun East past heroes / legends were Chief Jeremiah Obafemi Awolowo, the first Premier of the old Western Region / founder of the defunct Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) Chief Mrs Hannah Idowu Dideolu Awolowo, Late PA Abraham Adesanya (Senator of the Federal Republic), Dr. Tai Solarin ( renowned educationist), Chief Adeola Odutola ( world class business mogul), Chief Olabisi Onabanjo - the first Executive Governor of Ogun State, Senator Dr Jubril Martin's KUYE (OFR) - two term Honourable Minister , Senator Buruji Kashamu ( Great Philanthropist) OBA Sonariwo ( former AKARIGBO of Remo Land) and many others too numerous to mention.
Amongst the Ogun East living legends are His Excellencies - Professor Yemi Osibajo - the incumbent Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, OTUNBA Gbenga Daniel (OGD) - two term former Executive Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun (MFR) the sitting Governor of Ogun State, Senator Adegbenga Sefiu Kaka ( former Deputy Governor), Prince Segun Adesegun (former Deputy Governor), the Great AWUJALE of Ijebu Land HRM OBA Dr SK ADETONA , Chief Adebutu Keshiton BABA IJEBU ( international business mogul / Great Philanthropist) Senator Biyi Durojaye, Senator Lekan Mustapha ( member of the present 9th National Assembly), AREMO Adesegun Adekoya ATTACKER MHR (Deputy Minority Whip of the Federal House of Representatives), Chief Ladi Adebutu LADOO (former MHR / Philanthropist) to mention but a view.
The aforementioned names have made various landmarks in the history of Ogun East in particular, Ogun State and Nigeria in general.
As the 2023 election is fast approaching, there is need for Ogun East to present her best legs (reliable strikers) who can score goals from different angles due to experience and capability especially in the National Assembly ( Red / Green Chambers).
It's a known fact that Ogun East is lacking behind when it comes to the establishment of Federal Structures / Institutions. As we have it today, there no Federal University, Polytechnic or College of Education , Medical Center located anywhere in Ogun East, very unfortunate anybody we say, but we need to change the narrative by featuring competent individuals in the coming 2023 election at the National level.
I have come to realize that if Ogun East can make a passionate appeal to His Excellency OTUNBA Gbenga Daniel (OGD) to come to our rescue by coming out to context for the Ogun East Senatorial Seat in 2023. I am 100% sure that Ogun East story will change for better. Experience they say is the best teacher.
OGD is an household name not only in Ogun East but in Ogun State and Nigeria in general. Apart from being a two term Executive Governor of Ogun State, he has succeeded in many National and international assignments. OGD as of today, is one of the strongest Leaders of APC in Ogun State / Nigeria as a whole.
OGD has been a strong supporter of His Excellency Prince Dapo Abiodun MFR, the Executive Governor of Ogun State ever since OGD directed his loyalist across Ogun State to vote massively for PDA during the 2019 governorship election. I am sure PDA will also want to reciprocate the good gesture of OGD come 2023.
Ogun East witnessed tremendous achievements under OGD Administration :
- establishment of the first University of Education in Nigeria ( TASUED)
- Upgrading of TAI SOLARIN College of Education (TASCE).
- establishment of Agro - Cargo airport.
- establishment of Olokola Free Trade Zone.
- establishment of Otunba Dipo Dina International Stadium.
- establishment of Sagamu International Stadium.
- establishment of Sagamu International Market.
- upgrading of ITA OSU international Market.
- hosting of the first ever World Cup
- massive employments generation
- empowerments programs for women and youths
- massive roads constructions
...to mention but a few. Up till today, many people including the civil servants are attributing their various achievements to the support from OGD.
We will not mind going to our Royal Fathers in Ogun East to help us appeal to OGD to answer our clarion call. We may also organize peaceful rally, declare fasting / prayers and if need be, go on hunger strike until OGD says YES to our call.
He said, "OGD is Big, Strong and Reliable.
By the grace of God, come 2023, we, the good people of Ogun East shall contribute money and procure the APC Ogun East Senatorial form for OTUNBA Gbenga Daniel OGD to represent us the Red Chamber of the National Assembly. We are relying on OGD capacity to deliver and his unlimited connections to draw Federal Institutions to Ogun East".
It's worthy of note that five (5) sitting Executive Governors came down to Sagamu to welcome OGD into the APC family in Nigeria to show the high level of respects / regards for OGD - the Super Master of the Game.
President Muhammad Buhari also personally received / welcome OGD as a great member of the APC. OGD - Man of the people.
