Ogun State Government in collaboration with a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), Vineyard International Foundation, has offered free medical care and distributed relief materials, such as food items, clothes, among others to residents of Asa, Ibeku, Agboro and Agbon communities in Yewa North Local Government Area.
The State Commissioner for Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Barrister Femi Ogunbanwo speaking during the distribution in Ibeku, said the relief materials would cushion the effects of damages caused by herdsmen in the communities early in the year.
Ogunbanwo, represented by the Director of State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Mr. Olufolarin Ige, noted that the partnership drive was embraced and supported by the government to deliver social services and enhance development of the State.
The Commissioner stated that the Prince Dapo Abiodun led administration would continue to encourage the contributions of private organisations, including NGOs to improve the wellbeing of the people, saying it would not relent in providing succour for residents at all times.
Speaking, the Founder, Vineyard International Foundation, Mrs. Titilola Caetano said the organisation decided to collaborate with the State government, in order to put smile on the faces of the people in distress, especially after herdsmen attack.
‘’I read in the newspaper about the herder's attack on these communities in Yewa North Local Government Area, which indicated that the people were in need of services we render, hence the prompt intervention’’, she said.
Speaking, the Baale of Asa, Chief Musiliu Olukoku lauded the government and the NGO for their swift action and the recognition given to his people, while some of the beneficiaries, Mr. Michael Alabi and Mr. Femi Ajayi urged the government to provide more security personnel around their communities to ensure safety.
