CULTURE MINISTRY TO INTRODUCE GRAPHICAL INFORMATION SYSTEM

             As part of measures to ensure adequate security and accurate database of stakeholders in the Hotels and Allied Business sectors in Ogun State, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism is to introduce the Geographical Information System (GIS).      

     Commissioner in the Ministry, Dr. Oluwatoyin Taiwo disclosed this in Abeokuta at a meeting with the Hoteliers and Allied Businesses sector of the State.     
      Taiwo said the present administration would continue to ensure security of lives and property, adding that there was need for an accurate database of all stakeholders in the Hotels and Allied business, by ensuring that everyone is captured on the State's website. 

           "The GIS is a new technology which when introduced, will ensure that the database of all members of the Hoteliers and Allied businesses are captured in the Ministry's website.

 The system will help to detect the accurate location of hotels, bars, eateries, as well as authentication of bonafide members of the various associations even at the international level", Taiwo emphasised. 

           The Commissioner admonished stakeholders in the sector to synergise and continue to cooperate with the present administration by obtaining forms in the Ministry, fill in their accurate data and submit, in order to be captured in the system.  

         He said the essence of the regular meetings between the stakeholders and the Ministry was necessary to strengthen the synergy between the duo, enable the government to know the challenges faced by various Associations, as well as create an enabling environment for their businesses to thrive.    

       On his part, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr. Olusegun Olaotan enjoined all stakeholders to ensure prompt payment of the Special Functions and Social Permit fees, registration and renewal fees, pointing out that the move would enable government come up with a master plan that would translate to profit upsurge in their hospitality business, enjoy more dividends of democracy and create jobs for the youths.     

      He charged them to cooperate with the Ministry's appointed revenue collectors, saying it is the only way the present administration could serve them better.   

        Responding, the Governor, Fuji Musician Association of Nigeria, Ogun State, Prince Ganiu Omolaja applauded the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for providing an enabling business environment for their businesses to flourish, pledging the total support of its members to the revenue drive of the present administration, in order to access more benefits from the government. 

           Also speaking, the Vice President, Bakers Association of Nigeria, Ogun State Chapter, Elder Israel Jogunomi, appreciated the State government for organising the regular meetings, pledging their maximum support and cooperation to the administration.
