The unknown gunmen have attacked the Ado-Ekiti residence of Prof. Banji Akintoye, the leader of the umbrella body of Yoruba Self-Determination Groups, Ilana Omo Oodua (IOO).
The attack, which occurred over the weekend, was confirmed to the news men by Akintoye’s spokesman, Maxwell Adeleye.
According to him, the gunmen scaled through on Saturday to access the compound.
He confirmed that Akintoye was not around when the incident occurred and no one was hurt but several bullets were seen in the compound.
He however noted that the situation has since been reported to the Ekiti State Police Command for prompt investigation.
The 86-year-old emeritus Professor of History and member of the Senate in the Second Republic has been the forefront of the struggle for the actualisation of Yoruba Nation.
